Corporate Security is made up of a network of 110 professionals spread across the globe. We support patient safety and business performance by increasing Sanofi's resilience to diverse security threats and risks, and contribute to Sanofi's obligation to operate within the relevant legal frameworks. Our scope covers all prevention and protection activities against potential deliberate malicious acts, as well as the consequences of unintentional actions or events. Global Security recruits, develops, and retains professional talent with the knowledge, skills, and experience required to fulfill Security's mission with the appropriate level of competency, in line with international professional standards.
Job purpose
The Mexico Security & HSE Head reports to the Latam & Brazil Security Head and is based in Mexico City. His/her missions are carried out in coordination with the Latam Security Region and the global Centers of Expertise (CoE).
In his/her country, the Security Head is responsible for protecting Sanofi's employees, information, sites, patients, products and assets, and supports the company's resilience program through the deployment of crisis and business
continuity (BCP) plans. He/she is also responsible for the health, safety and environmental (HSE) programs, ensuring compliance with Sanofi requirements and regulations in coordination with the global Health, Safety and Environment Department.
Main responsibilities
Assess risks, identify threats, propose mitigation measures, guide stakeholders, and provide incident response.
Ensure the implementation of Global Security Standards through awareness, monitoring, and feedback to the Regional Security Head.
Promote Sanofi's security culture through training and communication, and advise and support stakeholders in Mexico.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders across the zone.
Ensure compliance with local and global regulations and criminal procedures; verify vendor proficiency and compliance.
Participate in external initiatives and maintain cooperative relationships with law enforcement agencies, intelligence services, private contractors, and diplomatic representatives.
Support sensitive business projects through intelligence gathering and investigations.
Visit remote sites to assess the readiness of security operations and ensure that regulatory requirements and compliance standards are effectively implemented.
Areas of expertise :
People Protection
Assess geopolitical risks in operational areas, update the country risk rating list, and contribute to crisis management and recommendations.
Identify needs for evacuation and business continuity plans based on diverse threat assessments.
Ensure the deployment of "Duty of Care" obligations through comprehensive personnel protection measures and the dissemination of a security culture.
Manage specific security arrangements for business travelers, including travel authorizations, incident reporting, accommodation assessments, awareness programs, and travel security plans for Highly Exposed Personnel (HEP).
Event Security
Provide security guidance and advice, including people protection, event area security assessments, and information protection.
Carry out the function of Security Advisor, if requested or required for security reasons (event type, destination, or attendees), and define the security plan and appropriate measures.
Asset Protection - Physical Assets
Validate site threat assessments and classifications to set priorities; implement the Regional Security objectives for the annual action plan; monitor the implementation of the Site Protection Global Policy and Procedures; and investigate major incidents.
Site audits: In coordination with the Regional Security Head, establish the annual risk-based country audit plan, secure resources, and oversee the entire audit process, from stakeholder engagement to follow-up on action plan outcomes.
Asset Protection - Financial Assets
Contribute to the protection of financial assets from fraud and theft in coordination with Finance and relevant functions; investigate internet fraud and phishing attempts; and raise employee awareness of social engineering and diversion risks.
Product Security
In coordination with, and following the global operational guidance and priorities of, the Patient & Product Protection CoE, secure core products by identifying threats, assessing Sanofi's exposure, proposing lifecycle security measures, and coordinating cross-functional committees.
Proactively detect falsified medicines and illicit trafficking through intelligence gathering, data analysis, test purchases, web monitoring, and patient claims; lead investigations into critical cases to identify illicit networks and facilitate the dismantling of illegal operations by law enforcement authorities; train sales teams; and build security networks.
Crisis Management
Identify crisis factors and likelihoods, and deploy a roadmap for crisis management readiness.
In alignment with the Global Crisis Head and Regional Security Head, coordinate refresher training and crisis exercises, assess team readiness, support local teams in crisis management, and report any actual or potential crisis to the Global Crisis Team.
Information Protection and Insider Risks (IP-IR)
Identify business and functional needs and escalate them to Global for assessment, decision-making, and coordination (investments, divestments, or any security risk assessment); implement the global Information Protection program locally, ensuring alignment with the global strategy.
Support the Global and Regional Insider Risk Coordinators, as needed; report trends and modus operandi; provide situational reports relevant to the area (intelligence, criminal activities, and geopolitical developments); and assess and secure events and external visitors at sites.
HSE - Health, Safety and Environment
Organize and maintain the HSE management system; develop and implement HSE action plans; conduct regular management reviews with Site Leadership; coordinate site risk assessments and mitigation measures; supervise accident and incident investigations; and organize emergency preparedness activities.
Ensure the affiliate's compliance with HSE regulations, the quality of HSE data reported to Global HSE, and an adequate HSE organization and budget; support the implementation of the HSE culture; build HSE skills and competencies; and stay informed of emerging risks.
About you
Extensive security leadership experience, with a solid professional background in corporate security operations, law enforcement, or military organizations, including at least 10 years in a senior corporate security role.
Proven expertise in investigations, risk management, and crisis response, including the supervision of major investigations leading to the dismantling and prosecution of criminal networks, as well as managing life-threatening situations such as death threats, kidnappings, and hostage-taking incidents.
Strong operational security capabilities, including the planning, organization, and execution of security operations, supported by a thorough understanding of security systems, principles, and relevant legal frameworks.
Excellent communication, influence, and decision-making skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment, assess risks effectively, and make high-level decisions, including in hostile or high-pressure environments.
Demonstrated people leadership experience, successfully managing Security and HSE teams through a leadership style based on trust, active listening, delegation, accountability, and performance management.
Strategic and adaptable mindset, capable of identifying operational issues, opportunities, and risks; making risk-based decisions; embracing innovation while remaining pragmatic; and performing effectively in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.
