As HSE Manager Benelux, you'll lead comprehensive HSE initiatives across three administrative sites (2 Belgium 1 Amsterdam) and related field forces, driving transformation and fostering a culture of safety excellence.

Lead our HSE transformation journey as you build a culture of safety excellence across the Benelux. In this role, you report to the HSE Lead North Europe, but you'll collaborate with site leadership across the Benelux to shape our HSE strategy, influence key stakeholders at all levels, and drive meaningful risk reduction and improvement initiatives. You'll also share your expertise with our regional and global HSE network, making an impact beyond our local operations.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement the HSE Management System across Commercial Operations in the Benelux, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Drive HSE culture transformation through effective change management and leadership of site HSE and Road Safety committees

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive risk management processes for all sites and field forces, creating and tracking performance improvement plans

  • Lead health promotion and road safety programs across the Benelux organization

  • Lead emergency readiness and co-lead crisis management programs across the sites

  • Oversee the local Occupational Health Service and collaborate closely with Workplace Experience to align and maintain HSE program excellence at local level

  • Support and lead environmental initiatives to support the Sanofi environmental roadmap and goals

  • Manage contractor safety programs and prepare and manage system audits

  • Work closely with the WX Leads in the Benelux to ensure a smooth HSE organization and adherence to Sanofi and legal regulations

  • Act as the Prevention Officer for the Netherlands and when applicable in the future also for Belgium

  • Take the lead to ensure HSE adherence, reporting and initiatives with the support of our iWX (CBRE) and WX teams in the countries. Guide, monitor and educate them to comply with the Sanofi HSE standards.

  • Work closely with site management to address the HSE requirements, roles and responsibilities across the Benelux

  • Define HSE initiatives to further develop a Future‑Ready HSE organisation that drives excellence, innovation, and sustainable performance

  • Transform our Benelux HSE organisation into a forward‑looking, data‑driven, and highly engaged function that proactively anticipates risks, enables safe and sustainable operations, and strengthens our culture of care.

  • Work closely with the HSE Coordinator North Europe and the WX & HSE Head North Europe to maintain a seamlessly integrated WX–HSE organization across North Europe to enable a safe, efficient, and people‑centric workplace which complies with the Sanofi and legal obligations and regulations

  • Coordinate and oversee HSE reporting, ensure submissions of information in time and in the different HSE tools.

  • Ensure compliance with the Sanofi and regulatory requirements and ensure HSE audits readiness.

  • Follow HSE training to broaden the HSE knowledge and Sanofi requirement

  • Provide input to the HSE Coordinator North Europe regarding financial requirements and budgets for the Benelux (e.g. fore casting, financial oversight)

  • Collaborate closely with all the staff of the Workplace Experience and HSE North Europe organization and the BE Prevention Officer to ensure alignment and improvements within the MCO North Europe, including the staff of our service provider.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in health, safety and/or environment or proven experience obtained in a comparable HSE function

  • Experience as a prevention officer in NL is a plus, or the willingness to follow applicable training

  • Accreditation as Prevention Officer in BE is a plus, or the willingness to obtain the accreditation

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as HSE Manager and responsible for internal HSE services.

  • Experience managing HSE programs in a multinational environment

  • Experience with managing emergency response teams and the willingness to be the Emergency Response Team Lead for your home site (e.g. NL or BE)

  • Background in environmental management and sustainability initiatives is a plus

  • Advanced level of English, Dutch and/or French is a plus

  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills

  • Ability to drive transformation and manage change

  • Willingness to travel to Belgium (or the Netherlands if based in Belgium)

  • Result oriented

  • Team player, but can work autonomously within established procedures and practices.
