Job Description:

The proposed position is based in R&D, CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls) Development supporting activities in the Data Science group. Sanofi is committed to becoming the first biopharma to do AI at scale by harnessing the full value of data and responsibly building AI products. A global initiative called “iCMC Digital Transformation” has been digitizing scientific / lab workflows over the last few years. This unique and ambitious program spanning over 2,500+ users and 10+ countries, has already resulted in a lot of data with tremendous potential to turn CMC into an AI-powered organization.

This 5-month Coop will directly support this vision and play a crucial role focusing on two key areas: Knowledge Graphs and Generative AI. Specifically, the Coop will work towards following deliverables

• Discover: Perform Exploratory Data Analyses using Graph visualizations of underlying data relevant for 5 focus areas of the iCMC DT program: Biologics Upstream Process Development, Biologics Downstream Process Development, Biologics Drug Product, Synthetics and Analytical Development

• Develop: Develop Knowledge Graphs to enable key use cases for each of these 5 focus areas. Some examples could include graphs relating process operations, parameters, materials etc.

• Build: Evaluate internally available Large Language Models (LLMs) and build pipeline for appropriate finetuning approaches to enhance the foundational models with Knowledge graphs developed above

• Accelerate: Accelerate process development by demonstrating the power of combining Knowlege graphs and Generative AI through use cases.

This is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate the benefits of Data Science in a cutting-edge scientific department developing the next generation of Sanofi medicines that will improve the quality of life for patients across the world.

About you:

• Working towards a PhD in computer sciences or engineering or Life Sciences/Bioprocess Engineering/Chemical Engineering

• Solid understanding of Knowledge Graphs and Large Language Models through coursework or research experience in Artificial Intelligence

• Good exposure with core data science languages (with Python, and R), Snowflake and other database systems (such as SQL, NoSQL)

• Hands on with Data science workflows such as data manipulation, data analysis and machine learning tasks

• Knowledge of software development lifecycle and general understanding of the deployment of AI/ML solutions (e.g. CI/CD, Orchestration)

• Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn

• Ability to create visualizations using tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly or Tableau to communicate insights effectively

• Knowledge and some experience of working in cloud-based environment such as AWS or GCP or Azure and using cloud-technologies for building AI-solutions

• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams

Additional Comment:

The position will be based in Framingham on the Sanofi campus. Expected to work onsite 3 days a week
