Job purpose

Medical Lead (ML) is medical function expert (with proven success at previous role) in engaging with healthcare professionals/institutions/payers in a non-promotional manner, to identify and address their scientific needs. ML use their scientific expertise to communicate and form partnerships to deliver the medical strategy, capture actionable insights and ultimately improve patient pathways and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Through prior scientific engagement experience, quickly build and develop value-based trusted partnerships,

  • through scientific engagement and exchange, with healthcare professionals/institutions/payers.

  • Create and develop a dynamic team that empowers individuals as brand team members to deliver business priorities by co-operating transversally through integrated brand planning.

  • To form and execute the country medical plan, participate in global/regional medical initiatives.

  • To generate actionable and valuable insights, propose solutions and translate into medical/brand strategy.

  • To contribute in data-generation activities, supporting local needs for the clinical research unit (CSU), regulatory affairs, and market access functions.

  • Participate and represent the company, in medical activities and congresses with expositions and presentations.

  • Comply with the local and corporate compliance frameworks for external and internal interactions and complete all global/local mandatory trainings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

  • Sanofi employee must understand of own roles and responsibilities in avoiding health risk (Health), preventing accidents (Safety) and environment protection (Environment). Involved in any such activities must comply with HSE policy.

Scientific Engagement and Exchange

Through prior scientific engagement experience, independently build and develop value-based trusted partnerships, through scientific engagement and exchange, with healthcare professionals/institutions/payers.

  • Form and execute the country medical plan, participate in global/regional medical initiatives.

  • Communicate in an accurate, fair and balanced manner the benefits, risks, appropriate use and clinical value of our products and solutions.

Insight Generation

  • Gather data, facts and observations on the external healthcare environment to generate actionable and valuable insights, propose solutions and translate into medical/brand strategy.

  • Identify key issues with regards to current and future market/competitor situations.

Internal Collaboration

  • Create cross functional partnerships and collaborate with internal stakeholders, conduct internal scientific educational trainings and support material development/review.

  • Monitor environment and policy; lead medical support to market access, regulatory, marketing team to fasten patient access to innovative medication.

  • Contributes to the development and implementation of the brand project/strategy as a core member of the brand team; and take the lead on product related medical-marketing directions.

Supporting Evidence Generation

  • Identify potential data gaps, lead data-generation activities including real-world evidence, supporting local needs for the clinical research unit (CSU), regulatory affairs, and market access functions.

  • Keep abreast of all new developments within the Sanofi portfolio of products and relevant therapeutic areas.

Team Leadership

  • Participate and represent the company, in medical activities and congresses with expositions and presentations.

  • Establish and maintain a strong regional and global medical network to influence strategies and facilitate delivery of operational goals.

  • Hire, develop and coach direct reports for performance to achieve medical priorities.

  • Identify and manage key decision makers and patient groups, shaping the environment and policies as required.

  • Create and develop a dynamic team that empowers individuals as brand team members to deliver business priorities by co-operating transversally through integrated brand planning.

About you

Education

  • Advanced life-science degree (e.g., Master, PhD, MD); skillful English and Mandarin in listening, reading, and writing. Good ability to evaluate clinical study protocols, reports and publications.

Experience & Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of the relevant therapeutic area, including disease and treatment landscape, health-care environment, as well as clinical data of products in the portfolio.

  • Minimum 5-years experience (combined) with either (1) in the pharmaceutical industry as customer-facing medical staff / people manager (2) in relevant academic institute as project leader (3) in teaching hospital as clinical physician.

Core Competencies/Skills

  • Strong communication and presentation skills to simplify complex topics, good networking skills.

  • Strong people management skill and team-leading experience.

  • Familiarity with omnichannel tools and being able to communicate via digital channels.

  • Good knowledge of pharmacovigilance and local regulatory process and its impact on the product portfolio.

  • Strong time-management skill and business acumen, understanding importance of timely building strategic plans and implement medical initiatives.
