About the Project

Are you ready to revolutionize drug product development through computational science? Join our innovative and thriving team at Sanofi's Formulation and Process Development department in Frankfurt. We're seeking a talented and passioned postdoctoral researcher to lead our "Next-generation drug product development by predictive formulation development" project. You'll be at the forefront of transforming traditional empirical formulation methods into predictive, data-driven approaches that accelerate development timelines, reduce costs, and minimize material usage.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement molecular modeling workflows to simulate protein-excipient interactions under various formulation conditions.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive database integrating computational descriptors with wet-lab properties.
  • Design and implement machine learning models to predict formulation behavior and stability.
  • Establish automated data pipelines for efficient processing of molecular simulation data.
  • Analyze complex datasets to gain molecular-level understanding of solution microstructures.
  • Collaborate with global and cross-functional teams to validate and implement predictive models. Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders and engage with diverse audiences across Departments outside the organization and Sanofi. Lead scientific discussion in the field and contribute to high-impact publications.

About You

We are seeking a passionate computational scientist with expertise in molecular modeling and machine learning to drive innovation in our formulation development processes.

Experience & technical skills:

  • Strong track record in molecular modeling techniques, particularly molecular dynamics simulations.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining computational pipelines for protein structure analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to extract meaningful insights from complex biological datasets.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and related libraries for machine learning and data science.
  • Expertise in molecular modelling software of biologics (e.g., Gromacs, MOE, Maestro).
  • Strong background in protein structure analysis, homology modeling, and molecular interactions.
  • Experience with protein featurization/embeddings and sequence or structure-based descriptors.
  • Expertise in structure/functions relationships of various biologics. Experience in biologics formulation development, components and concepts is a plus.
  • Experience in handling, curating, and managing large biological datasets.
  • Knowledge of data visualization techniques and tools.
  • Experience in leveraging AI/ML approaches for advanced data analysis.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong presentation and communication skills, to convey complex computational concepts to non-experts and to effectively represent the department at internal and external international conferences.
  • Ability to excel both as an autonomous researcher and collaborative team player across global, cross-functional environments
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking with strong attention to detail and structure.
  • Proactive & “Can-Do” mentality
  • Passion for applying computational methods to solve real-world pharmaceutical challenges.

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Pharmaceutical science or related field.

Languages:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; German language skills are advantageous.
