Main responsibilities
Please indicate here the main job responsibilities
- Identify and onboard the appropriate local Engineering team members to drive the design, construction, C&Q and handover of the new greenfield facility in China.
- Required local internal resources and expertise to ensure full operability in line with the project staffing plan.
- Develop cross training plan to ensure successful C&Q and startup leveraging existing Frankfurt facilities and expertise.
- Collaborate strongly with IFF Program teams to manage conceptual, basic and detailed engineering studies with optimized solutions leveraging Frankfurt process and process automation replication while integrating China local rules & codes.
- Define together with Purchasing, Global SME and Program Design Team the best contract model for all key steps: Equipment order, Automation infrastructure and execution, Design, Construction and C&Q activities.
- Design, construct, startup and commission & qualify the project in accordance with HSE, Quality, Business & Users requirements focus on design to cost solutions.
- Lead the China project engineering team and the selected engineering, construction and C&Q contractors to deliver project objectives in accordance with the defined strategy, budget and timelines.
- Major focus on construction and C&Q safety following the “Sanofi Construction Global Minimum Safety Requirements” as well as the local safety regulations. Considering this is a greenfield project with anticipated peak workers ~ 1,000 with concurrent and overlapping activities.
- Ensure strong partnership between Automation and Digital, following a synchronized execution plan to support the ambition to deliver a highly automated and digitized greenfield site.
- Implement Project Controls & Planning with appropriate SOPs.
- Implement standard reporting (Monthly Project Report) to manage and communicate on Safety, Cost, Planning & Performance.
- Ensure that both Sanofi EHS, Quality standards and China regulation are implemented & validated before execution.
- Strengthen leadership and organizational capabilities within the team.
- Build and sustain high performance management team.
- Anticipate, identify and communicate project risks on & across the site.
- Track action plans to manage risk all along the project.
- Assist site teams during PQ & validation activities before full handover.

Experience
- Strong knowledge on GMPs & EHS requirements.
- Ability to manage projects in a complex environment while achieving significant business results.
- Strong leadership with experience in leading Project > 100 M€.
- Ability to influence and build relationships across the organization.
- Excellent problem solver and able to generate innovative a digital solution to improve efficiency.
- Experience working on large capex projects in Asia (China, Singapore, etc) is a strong asset.

- Collaborate effectively with peers, stakeholders, partners across the organization to positively impact business results.

Technical skills
- In depth knowledge in Biologics process including aseptic technologies.
- Know-how in integrated C&Q activities for Pharma process.
Education
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering with at least 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical industries leading Tier 1 project.
• Pharmaceutical facility start-up or manufacturing position experience.
Languages
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English
- Chinese (Mandarin) is a strong asset.
